The Library has a substantial collection of the literary and research outputs of Somervillians (current and past) fondly (if unofficially) referred to as the Old Somervillians Collection.
To maintain a current and thriving collection of monographs, we welcome donations from Somervillian authors. Volumes cited in undergraduate reading lists, or which support the studies of our students, we will also purchase. We favour collecting in print, as printed publications are most easily made available to library users and researchers.
While we do take printed offprints of journal articles, where they come to us as part of a donation, we do not actively seek these out. We also do not attempt to provide links to the electronically published output of Somervillians, as this would be too extensive for us to organise, and there are many more research tools out there which do so very effectively.
Using the collection
All items within the collection are listed on SOLO. Students and staff of the college can borrow items from the collection in the same way as the main collection. External users should contact the library team if they wish to consult items from the collection.
