As many of the British Library’s services are going to continue to be down for what looks like months, the Bodleian has come up with some useful tips for getting around the current lack of access to eLD (electronic legal deposit) material and the UK Web Archive.
In the first instance you are encouraged to contact your subject librarian: they are happy to purchase items where possible, and we may also be able to advise on alternative sources and workarounds. A good example is Isabel Holowaty’s guide.
You might also try the BL’s own blog, where they have collated some useful resources.
You can continue to request items using the Inter-library Request service, although print items from the British Library are not currently available. It is worth noting that you can search the Jisc catalogue, which has 204 UK academic libraries’ holdings on it, to help you identify where your material might be.
To help you keep on top of what is available, the Bod have also created a libguide with all the latest info and useful links.
As ever, you can contact us at library@some.ox.ac.uk with any queries!
