Welcome to the Library Scavenger Hunt!
Part 1. Follow the instructions below to find a book in the Library and move on to the next step
- Open the University’s online catalogue, SOLO
- Filter the search to Somerville Library by clicking “Search Everything” and scrolling down until you find Somerville
- Search for Fly by night by Frances Hardinge. You can do this by just typing the author’s name and the title of the book into the search bar and hitting enter/return
- From the list of results, click on the book title (if you search as above, it should be the first and only result) to take you to the full record, where you should find the list of libraries that have copies of it
- Find Somerville in this list (under “Find & request”, if you scroll down the page) and click on the arrow to the right: this should show you that we have 1 copy
- The record should also tell you the shelfmark: by or under the words Main Library should be a number, which is the shelfmark of the book, and tells you where the book is classified in our Library – remember or note this number down
- Go to the map in the loggia (there are several more dotted around the library) and find out where the book should be in the library
- Find a copy of the book on the shelf and scan the QR code or navigate to the url printed inside the front cover to go to step 2!
