Library Scavenger Hunt: Part 2
Follow the instructions below to borrow a book from the Library and move on to the next step
- Open the University’s online catalogue, SOLO, again.
- Search for another book, this time in your own subject (use your reading list, if you have one). You can limit your search results again by clicking “Search everything” in the search bar and scrolling down to “Somerville College”. If you don’t have a reading list, instead type in a few words relevant to your subject or a title of a book that you think that we will have.
- Once you have found a book in SOLO, remember or write down its shelfmark.
- Using the map (or book location leaflet) in the loggia, go and find a copy of your selected book on the shelves.
- Bring your book down to the self-issue machine by the entrance/exit to the library, and follow the instructions there for borrowing a book. N.B. Successful completion of this step is absolutely necessary if you wish to be entered in the prize draw!
- When you borrow a book, the system should recognise you and bring up your name on the screen, as well as the due date of any books you borrow: the date that appears today should be at the end of term (for all books that you borrow in term time) and you can borrow as many books as you like!
- Either keep the book to read, or place it in the returns box by the door, and then scan the QR code or navigate to the url that you find on the returns box to take you to the final step.
